STATMENT

I work with the possibilities of drawing to reflect and focus on art institutional critique. My art practice expands and experiments with drawing forms. Drawing for me exists in lines, on paper, canvas, in the public sphere, spaces, through photography, moving images, languages, writings, and speech etc. for instance I work with expanding photographical-drawing, as a method to reflect on "cultural goods" and deconstruct hegemony wall painting narrative with a performative act of fragmental photographical drawings. In one case, this involved working with the Neidhart Festsaal – Wien Museum 2022.

My art works explores how the art context and educational discourses enable and produce "third spaces" in institutional settings. I also argue for achieving a similar possibility of "third space" through legal structures within such institutions. These arguments are based on case studies and subjective experience. This art work starts from thinking about the following dualisms in order to blur the lines between them. These dualisms are: art sphere – legal system, art – theory, West – East, exclusion – inclusion, necro-politics – biopower, and drawing–writing. The method is based on following the process of drawing which highlights the possibilities of “the third spaces” that are generated from the similarities among such dualism whether one puts it West–East or drawing–writing.

I consider myself a political and cultural subject—a hybrid refugee. I focus on power mechanisms, identity topics, and hybridities in the arts. My position is shaped by multiple systems and realities, which informs how I critique and engage with art practices and institutions.

Currently, I am working on questions around the production of art and its socio-political mechanisms the intangible cultural heritage in the fine arts and with reflection on the art education the Unesco.
